This whimsical woods maternity session has been the hardest blog for me to ever write. It has taken me days to figure out what I want to say. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s because I’ve known these two for so long. Maybe it’s because I’m so excited for them to be entering this journey of parenthood – something I wasn’t sure I’d ever do, but have found myself loving every single second of. Maybe it’s because I know what’s ahead for them – and I’m excited – and nervous – and every emotion in-between.
Becoming a parent for the very first time is the scariest feeling on the planet. Not all people feel this way – at least I don’t remember feeling that way when I was pregnant, but once they placed that sweet baby in my arms – everything changed.
Nicki and Ross – everything is going to change.
You are going to love this little girl more than you ever thought you could love someone. You are going to constantly second-guess every single decision you make or action you take. You are going to get mad at your inlaws for their advice (because you want to be the one to screw up and figure it all out on your own!) You’re probably going to swear at each other (or at least under your breath) when the other doesn’t help as much as you think they should – or you’re just straight-up exhausted to no point of return.
It’s not going to be easy.
This adventure is going to be the hardest you’ve ever been on.
You’re going to sleep less, cry more, and love harder than ever before.
But, guess what? You’re going to be great at it!
As strong of a team as you two already are, you’re only going to become stronger! The love you share as the two of you, will multiply by hundreds as soon as you become a team of three! The bond you will have as a family will be unbreakable.
I am beyond excited to see you two as parents! Only one more month to go, until your world changes forever…until you get to experience the greatest adventure of your lives!
